Another day passed by. Being a bounty hunter was free-lance work, witch is nice to say, but all it really means is that when theres no work, theres no money, and when theres no money, theres no food. I was sitting on my bead flipping through the chances of a TV when I got a message on my terminal sitting across the room. I sprang from my bed and ran over to the computer. It was a message from the federation. I was surprised to get the message. There ha-dent been a job open for awhile. I opened that message and read over it.

"My god..."

The first thing that surprised me was that the message was sent only to me. It wasn't a normal bulletin message that the federation normally sent out, No, The federation sent a message Directly to me. but that wasn't the strangest part, no, The message was asking that I help them trace down a rouge soldier, and get him alive, that had been on the lamb for a long time, But that wasn't the strangest part at all, no, The strangest part of it all was that the solider I was spouse to hunt down was named Adrian Shepard. The name was very familiar to me. It was the name of the man who helped me get adjusted to life in this time. He adopted me when I was unfrozen. He was on a mission to help guard a science team that had found an old mining site on the wastelands of earth where they had found an old town. The problem was that there was a pirate invasion just before this happened and there where still some pockets of pirates hiding out on the planet, it just so happened that there was a pirate camp in the old mines. He had told me that the pirates found me and where planing on selling me as a slave, and that if they where to come any later and I would have been gone. He was also the one who thought me to defend myself.

This came as a huge shock to me because I though he was dead. He had left the house one day saying he would be back and that he was just going to go on a mission. I waited days on end waiting for him to come back before I had a friend of his from the federation come through the door. He had told me that Adrian had died on a mission and that unless I could pay the bill's and make my own up keep that I he would adopt I was 16 and still a minor at the time. I found a way to make ends meet for 2 years before becoming a bounty hunter. The man had offered me to join the federation. I would have been able to go in as a higher rank them most people because of my previous training with Adrian. that man also offered me a spot on an elite team. I declined that mans offers. His name was Samuel Redford. He was good friends with me and Adrian. They would often go on the same missions together, Thought they where in different units all together, Sam was a higher rank then Adrian and would be giving him orders. Adrian was the closest thing I had to family in this fucked up world, and now he was gone. I felt dead on the inside for a long time. I eventually got over it but there was always that bit of me that was numb. When I went on missions helping with other people problems It helped the pain, it helped me forget about my own problems... So did killing people... The thrill of battle, the sheer adrenalin rush. It was enough to keep me distracted for a long time.

But the fact that I got a message from the federation telling me he was alive, and asking me to find him. It made me question so many things. I had to see Adrian one more time. I ran out of my front door and jumped into my ship, setting cores for the only place he would hide. I didn't have to go very far. He was on earth.

I had made it to the location to see that I had landed back at the old mining camp where he had rescued me. Memories of the event rushed through my mind. I had phased out and had gone into a flash back...

It was a cold night. The HECU was tasked with the mission to clear out an old mining town turned into a pirate camp so that scientist could uncover someone who was frozen many years ago. It was a simple Search and Rescue mission. there was little resistance. we managed to to make it to the target... Then we where ambushed by pirates. Many good men died that day. we where going to transport the girl in the tube but we couldn't. Me and 3 scientist had unfroze the tube and carried her back to the ship as my friend gave me and the scientist covering fire. Half of my unit was gone that day. After the mission was done the scientist needed a place for the girl to live and someone to help her. I was the one to take her in. I thought her everything I knew, gave her the best equipment I could, and helped her learn her way through the universe. I adopted her because she helped me forget... She helped me forget all my troubles, my worries, and my pain.

I walked down toughs old caves and walkways that had haunted my memory for so many years. I could hear the sound of men dieing, and I could smell the stench of blood fill the air... There where still stains on the wall and ground from that day. The farther down the mines I went the more the memories over flowed my mind. I made my way to the chamber my tube was in. I froze for a second, then touched it. It triggered so many flash backs that my mind couldn't handle it all. then I could hear someone step behind me.

"I knew you would be here... Master..."

I turned to see a man in a mask looking at me. We immediate hugged each other. we stood there hugging for what seemed like a forever. I finally let go of him and then looked at him and said,

"Adrian... Please take off the mask."

He looked away from me and wouldn't do it. I then lifted my hands and took it off myself. The site shocked me. Scars covered his face with stains of red.

"What happened?! Who did this to you?!"

I looked at him as one single tear wend down his eye. there was a long pause. He kept his head down and said

"The Federation..."

He then turned and looked up, He put his mask back on and without turning back around he said.

"We need to leave... Before they get here..."

He then started marching back up the mine. I followed close behind him. We made are way to the surface, but my ship was gone.

"There here, They took my ship. We need to leave, Now."

We started running, I wasn't sure where we where going but we started running. We where a good distance away from the mine before they found us. We never stopped running. The ships landed dropping off soldiers using tranquilizer rounds. We kept the game up for a long time. Master must of gotten at least 20 of them. But eventually he was hit. I wasn't wearing my armor at the time so after Master fell on the ground it was hard carrying someone and running at the same time. I was hit in the leg. I immediate pulled the tranquilizer our as soon as it hit me. It defiantly made me a lot more tired but it took 1 more before I was out. I felt it hit my shoulder. the energy drained from me and I fell to the ground passed out...

It had been days since Adrian had been home. I was starting to get worried. Thats when I herd the door bell ring. I walked to the door and opened it to see Samuel standing there.

"Oh hey Sam, Come in."

Sam was a friend of Adrian and mine. He would often come over with other military friends and play poker. I would server drinks and watch as they shared old war story's. They would often sing and dance together also. It was a great thing. Sam would also come over occasionally for this that or the other.

"Have a seat on the couch, I get you something to drink."

He didn't seem normal. I got a glass of tea for the both of us and set both of them on the table. I sat across from him and asked,

"So what brings you here Sam?"

I sat down on the couch, stricken with grief. I had seen a lot in my days, but nothing prepared me for what I was about to do.

"Jill, hon, listen. I have some bad news for you."

She paused, holding the glasses of freshly poured tea in each hand.

"It- it's about Adrian. I was told to inform you that..."

I couldn't seem to get the words out. i could feel my throat welling up, the tears choking me. What I was about to tell her would devastate her- I know because it did the same to me.

"Before I continue, I need you to do something. I need you to try to remember him as you knew him."

As soon as she heard 'knew', she got where I was going. I felt as if the federation were torturing me for allying with the two of them, making me tell my closest friend's adopted daughter that her father figure would not be returning. the glasses fell from her hands, and she began to sob.

"I know how you feel, Jill. Trust me, I am hardly in one piece right now. Please, let it out. Bottling it up will not do anything."

She sat down, staring at me blankly. I felt like I had killed her will to live at that moment.

"The Federation has an offer for you. More specifically, I have an offer for you. As a sixteen-year- old, you are not able to be held responsible for caring for yourself. I'd like to offer my house as a quartering for you until you come of age. Your only alternative is to live on your own and try to get enough money to pay the bills. What would you like?"

I felt as if no matter what I said or did, I would not get any response from her. Not tonight. And not much past that.

I woke up in a holding cell of a federal ship. There where 2 guards near a door and a monitor in front of the cell. The lighting was tenable and everything looked like someone came through and dumped trash all over the walls and floor. The monitor sprang to live piercing the darkness. The light blinded me for a few seconds.

"Hello Jill."

A voice boomed through the cell. It felt like the noise was powerful enough to knock me over.

"We would like to thank you for your 'co-operation' with us in this mission."

The light was starting to get a bit less intense and the sound got got a lot less booming.

"We would like to let you know that we will set you free after the final tests on our new weapon is complete. You killed 7 men on this mission Jill. 7 of my finest soldiers. Your going to make sure they didn't die in vain."

I could see a man wearing a helmet on the scream. I had never herd the voice but something about it made me uneasy.

"What the hell do you want from me?!"

I shouted as I tried getting on my feet as my head throved in overwhelming pain.

"I want you to repay me for the men you killed."

I finally gained back full composure. I watched as the bars opened and the 2 men pointed guns at me and told me to go through the door. I knew I could have taken them easily but I knew not to. I still didn't know where or what happened to Adrian, I also wasn't sure If I could take everyone one on the ship. I knew they where easy as far as 1 on 1 goes but all of them at once would be to overwhelming. All of this was bull shit. I just wanted to forget it all and escape. I was one step closer to the edge and I was about to break...

As I walk up to the door, the only thing on my mind was her. It's been a year and a half since I last talked to her; we didn't seem to be on good standings. Still, I could only worry about how she managed her life, if she ever moved on.

The bell rang. She answered, and seemed surprised to see me. All she could say was "It's been a while, Sam."

"It has. Listen, Jill, I'm glad to know you are safe. I'd like to offer you something- a career opportunity of sorts. I'd like you to enlist in the GF and join my squadron. I can't treat you specially, or anything, but I will at least be there for you if you need anything."

I half expected the door to be slammed in my face, but instead she opened it further and invited me in to discuss her future.

I sat down with Sam in the same place I was when he told me that Adrian was dead. It was quiet for a bit.

"I like the offer Sam, but I can't join the federation."

I got up and turned around. Something in my mind told me that I just couldn't do it. It didnt feel right.

"I'm going to become a Bounty Hunter."

I walked over to a door and opened it revealing a room full of weapons and a Power suit. I walked in and garbed a robotic arm enhancement. I then walked back over to where Sam was siting and picked up the couch he was siting on only using the one hand with him still on it.

"I've got this arm enhancement. It's strong enough to life 3 cars and then some."

I then put the couch back down and pulled out a pistol. I aimed it at a cup of tea I had made earlier and shot it. Not only the tea in the cup but the cup itself turned to Ice. I then pulled out a switch and activated my stealth camo. To the naked eye I was completely inviable. I moved for a second and the camo wared off a bit.

"I think ill be fine working on my own."

It was surprising to see Sam after all this time. It came to me as a compleat shock that he would come back and offer me something like that after all this time. It showed me that he cared. I turned off the camo and put down my new toys.

"I can see that you care for me, but please..."

I came to a complete stop. I couldn't finish the sentience. My throte locked up and I couldn't speak. A single tear came down my right eye.

"I want to put the past behind me... Its the only way... I just want to forget it all..."

I could see that he looked upset to. He said he understood and got up. I walked over to him and gave him a hug before he walked out the door...

I woke up- well, I sat up. I haven't slept soundly in a couple days. Not since Jill stopped by telling me about a peculiar mission the Federation asked her to do. Y'know, for someone that didn't want to be part of them, she does alot of things under our flag.

I just hope that she isn't chasing a ghost.

Adrian was a man unlike most. He was a take charge man, a military man. but he was also a great father. That little girl he found was raised right.

I decided I'd try calling her. Unfortunately, it went straight to voicemail. for some reason, this worried me more than the search and rescue mission...

I started to walk down a hallway that looked like someone smeared blood all over the wall in and made sure the lighting was absolutely god offal.

Thoughts flew through my mind as I kept walking.

My mind was full of rage, anger, fear, sorrow, pain...

I could see my past flashing before my eyes.

I rushed down a hallway with pirates firing back at me. I quickly looked back without stopping and fired a missile at a wall near them.

"Sam, hows your team holding up?"

I said over a radio in my helmet. I was sent on a mission to help support him and his team infiltrate a known Pirate facility. I wouldn't normally work with him but I got the chance to this mission. Our job was to take any Intel we could and destroy the place, pushing the pirates one step back.

I had no idea why I was even helping the federation anymore. They had already pulled so much bull on me that I had wished they would just fuck off.

I kept running until I had made it to a door and then turned. I started to fire my arm cannon at the pirates hopeful that they would die. I got a few before getting shot in the solder in the shoulder. I started to back up keeping heavy fire on them. I eventually started running again in vane hope that I could make it out of there before the place went sky high.

"How much longer till this place it obliterated?!"

I was ready to get out of here. I couldn't keep living like this. I needed to find a new job.

Maybe if I join the federation I wont be treated so crappy.

The thought regularly crossed my mind but I never did.

The federation never treated me right. Why should I keep giving them second chances?

"And wheres that other Hunter?! We need to go."

There was another bounty hunter here. She was female. Well known and was always treated kind by the federation. Her job was the same as mine, but she was given a separate are to take care of. We here spouse to meet up in a room I had just entered and run for the exit. She took her own ship and I took a federation transport with Sam. I didn't have the money for fuel at the time and they had a free seat open... they always did... It was like I was the federations little pet...

"Jill? Jill! Damn radio!" I tapped the stupid thing a couple times, trying to get it to work. Then I realized that it was in my helmet again, and immediately regretted the decision.
"Jill! Get outta there now! The whole thing's set to blow! You got 3 minutes till the fireworks display, and I saved you a good seat in the Federation Grandstand!"

Have you ever known a person like her? She's quirky, brave, loving, but something tramatic happened and it killed her inside. No, I'm not describing Ms. Aran, I'm talking about Jill. That girl must hate me for letting Adrian go. More importantly, she must hate herself, though. It amazes me daily to see her still on her feet.

I said forget it to the other hunter. I started running for the front door. There where still pirates behind me. I kept shooting back as I had broken through the front door. I could feel the ground shake as I had made it outside. I was greeted to a squadron on federal troops giving me covering fire so that I could make my way onto the ship. I was greeted by Sam on my way in. I took a seat siting across from him.

"I'm getting sick of all of this..."

I said to the face staring at me from across the ship.

"I think I'm ready to retire..."

I was still 21, but being a bounty hunter started to feel more like a haste then a means for me to live on. I was tired of risking my life everyday in hopes that I get underplayed for a suicide mission. I could find a new job. Maybe I could work behind a desk as a federal radio support operator, or something like that. All I knew was that I was done going out into battle like this. I watched as we flew away and the base had been blown to hell. I never knew if the other hunter made it out. I'm sure she didn't.

Servers her right, keeping me waiting like that.

"Jill, wait up", he said, jogging up to meet with Ms. Valentine.

"Here. Here's your check for this mission." He handed Jill an envelope, watched as she opened it, and witnessed her surprised expression. The check was double what she was told it would be.

"That's also my cut. I figured you deserve the pay, beings you have been shorted so many times before."

I watched as sam had given me his cut of the money from the mission. I looked up into his eyes and said,

"Sam... This is really nice of you but... I can't take your money..."

I took out half of the money and put my hand out.

"It feels wrong taking money from you like that..."

I said to him as a single tear rolled down my face.

"Its very nice of you to do that for me, but you probably need the money more than me."

My thoughts where running wild in that moment. I couldn't believe that he offered to give me his money like that. It was so nice of him to try and do something like that for me... but the truth was that I didn't want his money, I didn't want anything to do with any war against the pirates, I didn't want to be a part of anything anymore. I wanted to finally find a place to lie my head and live out the rest of my days peacefully. After I went home I would resign as a bounty hunter and find a new job.

"Thank you for the offer Sam..."

I started to walk away. I looked back and saw him standing there.

"I'll see you again sometime."

"... Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We deliver this body back to the ground..."

The service seemed to stretch on forever; the 21- gun salute to my valiant friend did no justice to the man. Neither did the stereotypical funeral reading that was given. When his body was finally laid into the casket, something in me said that the body in there was not Adrien. I turned to look at Jill, but she saw me and turned away, probably to keep her sorrow and anger hidden from me. I don't know what I felt more grief over- her loss or mine. All I can say, though, is that body was not the only thing buried that day; so was that little girl's innocence...

I watched as the casket was put into the ground. I felt as if they had buried a part of me with him. After the funeral was over I stood up and looked at his grave. I watched people walk away as me and Sam where the only ones left. I stood there for what felt like a forever. I eventually left a set of flowers I had been holding next to hid grave and turned away. I never looked back at his grave again. Never.

I had made it to a room where I was given some generic equipment but no power suit or arm enhancement.

"We are going to send you to a Pirate base. There we want you to infiltrate a hospital and take all of the medical data on all of the pirates you can find, then you are to make your way over to and air base and make in nonoperational."

I took the gear and put it on.

"You expect me to do all of that without a weapon or power suit?"

I said to the man with a still very angry tone in my voice.

"You can improvise."

He had said to me. I was taken over to a drop-pod and launched from orbit onto the hostile pirate planet.

((To make sure I don't Mind fuck the story here, I've decided that corruption should happen mid this RP. It will make a lot more scene in the long run. So right now the events of corruption happen in between this post and witch ever next one takes place after that. till then more flashbacks. also lets pretend that during corruption that I had never mentioned anything about "Grey Fox"))

"Redford, we need your response immediately."

Admiral Dane's voice came over my ship's transmission systems. I decided to take a trip towards the GFS Valhalla, one of the battle ships of the armada. Good thing I did, too- Dane needed me in the region I was in anyhow.

"There seems to be some disturbing data coming from where you are. Contact me when you receive this message. End transmission."

I sigh. "Just when I thought I was out, they keep pulling me back in..."

I press a few buttons on the console; a transmission panel swings down from the ceiling, displaying a ring of numbers. I punch in the code to link up to the Olympus, Dane's "pride and joy", and hear the voice of one of the communications officers.

"Hello, sir?"

"Yes, ma'am. This is Seargent Major Samuel Redford, pilot of the Eclipse. Your commander sent a message to me about some important information he had. Can you patch me through?"

"Yes, sir."

The communications disconnected briefly, then reconnected to Dane's voice.

"Redford. I'm glad you called..."

Not a day passes that I don't think about him. It got so bad that I couldn't sleep anymore... I would just wait... wait for the sound of the door opening and him being there. I couldn't believe that he was dead, It just couldn't be...

I got out of my bed and walked over to the living room. I sat down on the couch and sat with my hands in my face... I couldn't cry anymore, he took all my tears with him. I was normal at this point for this to happen. Not one night did I ever get a good sleep. I got up and walked over to kitchen. I stood there for a second before garbing a tea bag a gallon of water from the fridge. I made some tea and pored some sugar in the cup I pored for myself. I walked over to the window looked out into the night sky...

I would always do this. I looked for a sign. Anything... and every night I would see nothing but the darkness of the night sky... But tonight was different. I saw a light flash across the sky and fly over my house. It was a ship. I rushed out to the front door and looked at it as it flew away. I put my hand out reaching for what I could never touch. I watched as it flew away...

I ran from the death camp they had held me in and rushed for one of the ships in the hanger. I had jumped in and started to fly away... With no direction I flew. I had noticed that somehow I had flow near where I use to live. I flew right over my house... and She had come out the front door. I could see her reach out to me. I never stopped flying...

Now the only thing I could think of was her...

"Admiral Dane sent me here to deliver a message." I stepped onto the command deck of the GF base on Norion. The planet was beautiful, with lush vegetation and a wide variety of life forms. I once went on an expedition through the vast forest, looking for unknown organisms. We found exactly what we came for; a small rodent was found, about the size of my hand. It's defining characteristic was it was the primary predator of the food chain in this ecosystem. It had developed a neurotoxin that it spits into the face of attackers and triggers chemical responses to force the animal into gathering food for it, then killing itself. The federation said they were looking for it to confirm the need to protect the habitat, but I think they have other plans for it. Why else would we be asked to collect as many specimens as possible?

"It has to be of high security, if they sent someone as high up in rank as you, Major. What is it?" The commanding officer sat, motioning for me to do the same. "Fancy looking armor, there, too. New class?"

"sorry, but that's-"

"'Top secret', i figured. Redford, you've been here how many times? I've watched you receive orders I could be discharged and incarcerated for hearing. don't tell me about 'Top secret'. Anyhow, what did you come here for?"

"I came to let you know this system is on red alert for a potential pirate invasion. There is a worm hole being tracked in the center that is growing in size daily. It's only a matter of days before it is opened. I'm going to deliver a similar message to the AU on Elysia after I leave here."
